Some people may believe that we already have all the information for an EA Model already in our Configuration Management Database (CMDB). After all, it contains lots of information about applications, databases, etc. However, although related and linked, these two repositories of information are different in many ways.

In order for us to realise why using our CMDB is not a good idea - it is important to understand how an EA Model relates to our CMDB.
